Trillium Lakelands School board was ordered to help pay over $600,000 in damages after covering up sexual assault by one of their teachers.
In November and December of 2019, the Ontario Superior Court heard the case of a 16-year-old girl who had been sexually assaulted by her band teacher. The incidents occurred between March and June of 1983. The teacher had taken on a mentor, confidant and counsellor role for the student.
